Being useful and finding it useless

Being useful and finding it useless
I thought I would be helpful today but, after 15 minutes, I gave up. I have this idea for Microsoft Word, an enhancement that would make my life, and the life of others, much easier. When I type a word incorrectly (as I do all the time) and consistently incorrectly, such as ‘staygin’ instead of ‘staying’, for example, I will go to the autocorrect part of Word and add in ‘staygin’ making it automatically correct to ‘staying.’ Needless to say I have hundreds of these autocorrects as I don’t actually type, I just hit the keys in random order and occasionally a properly typed word will come out. The thing is, I spend a lot of time adding in autocorrect words and it would be so much easier if you could right click on the misspelled word – to bring up the spell checker – and then have an option to go straight to autocorrect from there. One right click, click to autocorrect with your misspelled word already entered, enter the real word and click ok. Simple. Much simpler than going to File, options, blah di blah and then filling out words where, by the way, you have to then close the autocorrect box, move down the page to your next set of words you want to add in, re-open the autocorrect box and start again. (There is a short cut I use, which helps a little.)

Anyway, I tried to find a place where you can send in a simple suggestion to Microsoft… and ended up with seven tabs open in my browser, links to forums that didn’t help, Microsoft Connect where the word ‘Word’ wasn’t even recognised, Microsoft Community that led me around in circles, Microsoft Support that led me to pages that I’d already had no luck at, and ‘contact us’ pages that did the same thing. I gave up in the end, they can do without my feedback as it won’t be very pleasant.

Anyway, anyway, I thought I’d just throw that one out there in case anyone does know of a simple page or email address where you can send in your handy tips.

Meanwhile, on Symi, we’re back on dry land, with today’s photos I mean, and we’re waiting for the rain that may or may not come later today or tomorrow (I am writing this on Wednesday). The day started cloudy and windy, the wind died down, the boats came in and the cloud persisted. It’s also warm and a bit humid, but the sun is due back later. I think we are having a stay at home day today, but whatever you are doing, have fun!
