Today, it doesn’t seem right to post one of my usual frivolous and throw-away posts about all and nothing, not when there are fires raging in Rhodes, people are evacuating for their lives, and losing their livelihoods, and there is so much disruption taking place.
My Facebook feed is full of horrific posts of wildfires ravaging valleys and countryside, villages, hotels, and even beach bars. Today, as I write, is Sunday, and the strong winds of last night have dropped; here on Symi at least. Hopefully across the water too, which may help the effort to put out the fires. The news from Rhodes is on the front page of the Guardian website, Greek news outlets and elsewhere, so you may already know more about it than I do.
