Holiday accommodation in Pedi

VILLA BY THE SEA

The old villa is situated in Pedi and is very spacious with high ceilings, and beautiful doorways and large windows on all aspects. It is positioned right on the waters edge with its own jetty.

Its layout is typical of old Greece... the villa has 2/3 bedrooms, a huge salon, hallway, and kitchen as well as a walled garden and a private walled courtyard (the avli) which leads out to the jetty. The shower room/wc is across the avli. The villa is furnished simply but with beautiful antique bed linen, luxurious towels and interesting lace textiles, while at the same time keeping it very Greek. Some of the decorations in the house have been created and left by our inspired guests who have loved the villa as we do.

We offer a generous Welcome Pack, barbecue, separate beach towels, beach mats, inflatable boats, fishing rods and games. The kitchen is very well equipped with clean cooking facilities, although it only has a cold water tap and an old stone sink. We have purposely kept its traditional charm, no en suite bathrooms, no air con, no dishwashers or washing machines, but it is fresh, clean and has a wonderful cool atmosphere with its high ceilings, ceiling fans and big windows all round to let in the sea or land breezes. The accommodation is all on ground level (no climbing up ladders to go to bed, good for the more elderly), and the view, plus the sea being right at the doorstep, makes it quite unique.

And this year (2010) we also have a fibre glass rowing boat 'SUSIE' moored from the jetty that the guests can use for fishing or simply keeping fit. Use of this should be pre-arranged with us, and we will need guests to pay a separate deposit.

Situated in a quiet location in a fisherman's bay (Pedi), it is one of the very few detached houses on the island with its own jetty, and a walled garden, situated right on the water’s edge. There are just a couple of requirements though... to be a villa guest you need to be a cat lover!

1) The villa has two resident rescue cats who need to be fed. Adorable one eyed Kevin and nervous Mrs Pickle. We find that to ensure the guest's privacy it is better that the guests feed them themselves, rather than having a daily visitor call. So they definitely have to be cat lovers! (Cat food is supplied and extra titbits are always welcome!)

2) Guests are asked to water the garden every evening to help the garden survive in the heat the following day. Herb plants for cooking have been planted in the rockery beds for guest's use.

The villa offers simple old quaint Greece in a wonderful setting. One of our guests described it as 'a little piece of heaven here on earth' and this is exactly what it is. A place where you can really relax and chill out.
