The story so far:
Prologue
1882. A mysterious metal chest has arrived on Symi
from Venice. It has been sent to Christos Panandreas, a wealthy
sponge merchant who owns the biggest villa on the island. As his
fleet of diving boats returns from their seven months at sea he
sits on his terrace to have his portrait painted. His son, Dimitris,
is 11 and desperate to know what the chest contains. But Christos
will only say that it is very important and contains a piece of
history.
Chapter one
Present day. Jason is a holiday rep with
SARGO holidays. In Rhodes his boss, Andy Slipe, gives Jason an ultimatum;
to improve his performance and sales or face the sack. He sets Jason
the task of organising and selling a new excursion... or else.
Jason hates Slipe because Slipe was promoted over Jason and got
the job our hero was destined to have.
Chapter Two
Jason thinks about the letter his grandmother Margaret recently
sent him. His grandfather has died and left him an heirloom, Margaret
is coming to Symi to pass it on. Jason hopes it will be valuable
so that he can afford to stay on the island in the winter.
Chapter Three
Meanwhile Margaret is on the plane approaching
Rhodes airport. She is a bit chatty when nervous and bombards Harriet,
a fellow Sargo holiday maker, with constant chatter. Revealing that
she is coming to Greece because she is on a mission...
Chapter Four
Jason meets his grandmother (Margaret) for the first time in many
years. He also meets the other guests... Harriet, Oliver, Cassie,
Polly and Lesley. They are an eccentric bunch and it's going to
be a difficult week.
